There are so many ways that you can support Flying Change. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the support and generosity of the community. Your gift helps Flying Change to care for our horses and make therapy possible for struggling children and their families.
Sponsor a horse or foal It's easy to sponsor a HopeFoal or Flying Change horse. We have multiple levels of sponsorship for individuals, families and corporations.
Community Fundraisers Flying Change is pleased to accept any form of support you or your group would like to give. Groups might choose to hold benefit horse shows, bake sales or other fund raising events. Whatever your idea, we'd love to hear it! Contact us at info@flyingchange.org.
Outright Gift A tax-deductible donation is a great way to show you care. Your gift made through cash or credit can be put to use right away and you will receive an immediate income tax deduction. Your help is essential for Flying Change to continue its mission.
Gifts of Stock If you own stock, it is often more tax-wise to contribute stock than cash. A gift of appreciated stock offers a two-fold saving: first, you avoid paying capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock, and second, you receive an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift. Up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income can be deducted, and any excess can generally be carried forward and deducted over as many as five subsequent years.
Gifts of Real Estate and Life Estate A residence, vacation home, farm, acreage or vacant lot may have appreciated in value over the years such that its sale would mean a sizeable capital gains tax. By making a gift of this property, you can avoid the capital gains tax, and at the same time, receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of your property. You can even arrange to contribute your house, farm, or vacation home to Flying Change now, while retaining the right for you and your family to live there for life and receive a current tax-deduction
Gifts of Life Insurance Life insurance provides another excellent means for making a significant gift to us at a low out-of-pocket cost to you. Just a few hundred dollars a year in premium policy payment can often purchase a $100,000 policy. You can designate Flying Change as a beneficiary and give a gift of life insurance either by purchasing a new life insurance policy or by contributing a policy which you currently own, but no longer need. In some cases, a portion of the cash value of the policy and/or your premiums may be deductible as gifts to Flying Change. In all cases, you receive estate tax savings while benefiting an organization you care about.
Gifts Through Your Will or Bequest You may provide in your will for Flying Change to receive a specific sum or percentage of your estate. If your estate is subject to federal estate tax, a charitable bequest can save significant tax dollars. It may be helpful to know that you can easily add us to your will through an amendment to your will called a codicil; thus your will does not have to be redrafted. When your estate is settled, the bequest will benefit Flying Change while providing your loved ones with estate tax savings.
Charitable Remainder Trusts A charitable remainder trust allows you to make a substantial gift to us and yet continue to live off income from the assets you've given. It is a tax-wise way for you to increase your current income, while providing a generous gift for our future. Simply put, you transfer money, stock, or other property to a trustee, then the trustee pays you income for life, and after the lifetime income payments have been made, the trustee transfers whatever amount is left in the fund to us for the purpose you designated when you created the trust. You receive a substantial federal income tax deduction upon the creation of the trust, no capital gains tax liability is incurred upon transfer of appreciated property to fund the trust, the beneficiaries receive the benefit of professional investment management and the creation of the trust reduces the property which must be administered in your estate, resulting in favorable estate tax treatment.
Charitable Lead Trusts This trust allows you to pass on significant assets to younger family members with little or no gift or estate tax payable to the government. You transfer assets to a trustee who makes annual payments to us for a specified number of years, after which time the assets remaining in your trust go to your children, grandchildren, or others. This trust allows the opportunity to transfer substantial assets to younger generations, completely or significantly free of transfer taxes.
We appreciate your interest and support, and would be pleased to provide you with additional information regarding the mutual benefits of these forms of giving. Feel free to contact us at info@flyingchange.org.
